Weekend in Flagstaff

2 years ago, Aaron hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim with his friend Aaron. He has been aching to get back to Arizona and the Grand Canyon ever since. So, we packed the girls up and drove to Flagstaff, Arizona for the weekend - Oct. 24-27. It was a long drive, but the girls were amazing. We knew that Emmy was good at long distance drives because she has done a few, but Alison has never done more than 5 hours in a car. She was such a trooper. We lost the pacifier about 2 hours from Flagstaff. So, I sat in the back with the girls, and thankfully we made it the rest of the way without too many problems.

Aaron, Aaron, and Marshall got up early Saturday morning to hike in the Grand Canyon. They didn't end up doing rim to rim this trip. They spent most of the day hiking, but they also knew when to quit and spent a few hours relaxing in the river at the bottom of the canyon. They got back to Flagstaff about 10:00 p.m. Aaron plans on posting his experiences in the canyon later.

The girls and I spent Saturday with Tiffany, Addie, Quinn, and Enoch. We made hair bows, cooked, talked, and played outside. Emmy loved the tramp and swingset in the backyard. We even loaded all 5 kids up and made a run to the store to get some socks so that I could teach Tiffany how to make leggings. I just loved being with my dear friend Tiffany and catching up.

We decided to not drive back to Utah until Monday so that we could spend an extra day with our friends. It was nice to relax. We stayed up way to late talking with Aaron and Tiffany. It was well worth the trip, and Aaron and I hope to make it an annual adventure.

Aaron picking out Aaron's fro. Got to get the fro ready for Halloween.

Beautiful Addie with the first bow she made. She was so creative.

Emmy, Quinn, & Addie making hair bows. It was so much fun to teach them how to make bows.

Addie trying to help Emmy up into the swing. They are about the same size, so Addie didn't have much success.

Quinn pusing Alison in the baby swing.

Emmy is supposed to be sleeping in the sleeping bag to her left. We are always finding her in the strangest positions.

Quinn, Emmy, and Addie were instant buds. They loved playing school with Tiffany's white board. Emmy was saying, "Okay, I'm the teacher." Addie would then ask her, "What's your name?" Emmy would answer, "Emmy." They went back and forth like this several times. Finally Addie gave up realizing Emmy didn't understand about making up play names.

Emmy and her friends watching Dora. The portable DVD player is a lifesaver for those last few hours on a long trip.

My sweet Alison.
