Puerto Varas & Chiloe Island

Susie, Aaron and I spent the weekend visiting Puerto Varas and Chiloe Island. We had a great time exploring the towns.
This is a Catholic church in Puerto Varas that we visited.

The blue ceiling inside the church was stunning.
We walked around Puerto Varas near the water. This was a very busy tourist time in the city.
The water was beautiful.
This is a typical dessert in Chile called Mata. It is barley in a peach syrup with a peach floating on the barley. It was very interesting.

We are on the barge to the Island Chiloe.
We took a boat tour to see the penguins. They migrate up from Antarctica for the summer to have their babies. It was so cool to see the penguins.
A view of the beach from the boat.
We watched all of the penguins slide down off the rocks into the water to fish.
This boat tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Chile.
The beaches were amazing; there were hardly any people there.
We thought these rock formations were so cool.

Empenadas and salad for lunch. Yummy.

This beach was completely deserted. It was just so amazing.
Aaron had to run out on that beautiful beach.
Town square of Ancud.
Our hotel in Ancud. We stayed in the suite on the very top level.
The barge ride back to the mainland.
We finally got some great views of the volcanoes on our way back to Osorno.

The volcanoes are everywhere. It is incredible!
