4 Generations

November 20, we piled all of the kids in grandma's van and headed to Spanish Fork for the day. We got to spend the day visiting with Great Grandma & Grandpa Davies. Great Grandpa Davies will be 91 in a couple of weeks. It was really a wonderful opportunity to visit and take some very special pictures.

Emmy tried so hard not to fall asleep on the way home from Spanish Fork. She fell asleep coloring.

Discovery Museum

On November 17, the girls and I went to the kids museum in Salt Lake with all but one cousin on both sides. Darin, Katie, and Carly came down from Heber to play for the day. Tiffany, Bennett, Brady, Kimberly, and Audrey were all in town for the holidays. We were only missing brand new baby cousin Sara. She's in Nebraska; we can't wait to meet her in December.

The kids had a great time exploring all of the exhibits. Alison took a nap for the first hour; she enjoyed the baby area when she woke up. She crawled up this cool slide thing all by herself. She squealed the entire climb; I think she felt really big. Emmy loved the little grocery store especially the cash registers. She loves playing shopping at home. She is always asking me to be the "buyer", which really means the cashier, so that she can buy all of the random toys and books she has collected from around the house. I usually make a pretend beep sound for each item and then ask her for $10.00. She gives me a hi-five and smiles. Don't you wish we could buy food with just a hi-five and a smile. We had a great lunch on the terrace in beautiful sunshine. It was a really special day.

I did have one of those heart stopping moments on the way home. I had Bennett, Brady, and Emmy in my car, and we stopped at a store to pick up something really fast. Brady ran out into the parking lot, so I put my wallet on top of the car to run after him. Well, I drove about 10 blocks through downtown Salt Lake with my wallet on top of my car without any idea. I was heading out of downtown on North Temple with I heard a thump. I didn't think much of it until a car pulled up next to me telling me to roll my window down. They told me I had just lost my wallet in the middle of the overpass. AHHHH! I quickly turned the car around, parked the car on the side of the road, waited for the traffic to clear, and then ran up the over pass to get my wallet. The kids had panic all over their faces as they watched me run around the road like a crazy lady. I'm sure the cars stopped at the light enjoyed the show also. When it was all over Emmy said, "Mom, do you have your wallet now?" I told her that yes I got it back. She said, "Good, you can buy me some books!" I am so grateful to the guys that told me my wallet fell off my car.

Babysitting?

I asked Aaron to keep an eye on the girls for me while I got ready for church. This is how I found Aaron watching the girls.

Aaron woke up after I took the picture. He then found some books and read to the girls. He misses the Sunday morning nap he used to take before he had meetings every week.

Fall Leaves

Emmy had a great time helping Aunt Emilie and Mark rake leaves last Friday, November 7. My parents get so many leaves in their yard from the neighbors trees.

Alison's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Alison's first birthday with my family yesterday, November 9th. I made a beehive birthday cake for Alison; I thought it would be fun since she was a bee for Halloween. Emmy and Bennett loved wearing the antennae clips and wings; they buzzed all around the living room. Alison's two favorite things were the ball popper toy we got her and eating the candy gum drop that was on top of the beehive cake. She worked on eating the gum drop for about 20 minutes. When that was finally gone, then she ate her piece of cake.

I took her to the doctor this morning for her well baby check-up. She is 30 1/2 inches long and weighs 18 lbs. 15 oz. She is still in the 90% for height, but she has dropped to the 20% for weight. Aaron always says she's going to be our volleyball player.

Thanks Aunt Karen for the awesome hat. Alison looked so cute.

Gracias Papa & Grandma

Thank you so much for the wonderful birthday gifts. They were a great surprise. Alison loves playing with both the drum and musical table. Emmy likes to help Alison play with her toys. Enjoy the photos and video.

Welcome Home David!

We picked up my brother from the airport last night. He's home! It feels great to have our family back together. Emmy didn't remember Uncle David, but she was very happy to give him hugs. Alison is still warming up to her Uncle that she had never met until last night. David seems taller to me and more mature. My dad is very happy to have his only son back; they are out riding motorcycles right now. Life went right back to normal.




































There's a funny story that goes with this homecoming. David's plane was scheduled to arrive at 11:00 pm. We planned on getting to the airport around 10:45 so that we would be a bit early. We spent the day cleaning, cooking, and trying to pass the time as quickly as possible. We watched a movie while we anxiously waited for it to be time to head to the airport. Aaron, the girls, and I were a few minutes ahead of my parents. When we pulled into the parking lot, my dad calls to tell us that David called. His plane arrived almost an hour early, and he was waiting for us at the baggage claim. Ahhh! We missed the big moment; the grand entrance. There was another missionary from Salt Lake that came home with David, so his family was kind enough to hang around with David until we showed up. We never once thought about checking to see if his plane would arrive early. Do planes arrive early? Yes they do; when you least expect it. We had joked around all day about how horrible it would be if we missed David's arrival, and he had to wait for us to come and get him. Oops! David was totally cool; he said that it makes for a funny story.

Elder David Meyer

My little brother comes home from a 2 year LDS mission in Poland TONIGHT! We are so excited to have him home again. We are all going to the airport to welcome him home.

I didn't get to take David to the MTC because I was teaching 5th grade. I wish I could have enjoyed that experience.

Uh Oh

Last Thursday, October 30th, I discovered that Alison had learned her first word "Uh Oh". I gave her some toys to play with while I was tutoring. She dropped a few on the floor and said, "Uh Oh" a couple of times. My student Stewart and I were both surprised, so we started dropping the toys on purpose to see if it was an accident or if she could really say Uh Oh. It didn't take her long to figure out the game, and she said plenty of Uh Ohs for us. Enjoy the videos.

Pacifier

Alison loves her pacifier. She can stuff the entire thing in her mouth. She looks so funny when she gives you a big green smile. She loves to share her pacifier with mom and dad. She thinks it's so funny if we hold it in our mouth for her to grab. She giggles, takes it away, and then tries to give it back to play again.

Beautiful Day

Can you believe that this was the day before Halloween? The girls and I had to go for a walk to the park. We had so much fun on the swings and playing in the leaves. Emmy pushed her teddy bear in her baby stroller while I pushed Alison in the umbrella stroller. Alison loved feeling the leaves. She played with a leaf stem the entire walk home from the park. The girls giggled so much in the swings. This was one of those perfect afternoons that I will always remember.

My sister Kimberly is a great artist. She has done some wonderful artwork for my girls' rooms. I had her draw pictures that match the bedspreads in their rooms. Halloween 2008

Here are the highlights of our Halloween adventures.

We had a cookie party with some friends from the neighborhood. 10 kids, 4 moms, and 1 really big mess made for a great Halloween party. The kids decorated cookies, made mini pizzas for lunch, and played dress up. They had a great time.
I enjoyed visiting with my friends while we ate lunch.

Grandma Susie bought this costume for Emmy back in fall 2005. She could not wear it because it was too small for my chunky Emmy. So, I thought I would try again with Alison because she is much skinnier than Emmy was as a baby. Well, Alison was too tall for the costume. Maybe our next kid.

Halloween was a busy day for us. The girls and I had our pictures taken at Little Grins. Emmy was a butterfly princess, Alison was a bumble bee, and I was a flower. The girls and I spent the day at Grandma Peggy's house. We decorated the last of the cookies, watched Halloween shows on TV, and had a pumpkin pizza for dinner.

Aaron spent the day buying building supplies for us to finish the 4th bedroom in our basement. We got so lucky. We found a lady wanting to sell everything you need to finish a room for very cheap. Hopefully, Aaron and our friend Mike will start on the room this weekend.

We did a little bit of trick-or-treating down Main Street. Then we went to the Trunk-or-treat for tons of candy. Later, we went back to my parents house, and Emmy and Aaron went around the block so that they could knock on Grandma's door. Emmy was exhausted, but I think she had a great time. She keeps asking me when the next Halloween will be.
