Emmy's First Visit to the ER

Yesterday evening, we were decorating cookies at my parents house. Emmy was the last one to finish. Suddenly we hear this crash, and Emmy trying to get a cry out. She had been sitting in the chair on her knees with her feet sticking out through the back of the chair. When she tried to get herself out of the chair, she some how feel with the chair landing on top of her. We were all there, but no one actually saw what happened. We think she hit her face on the table in the topple, and we weren't sure if she needed stitches or not. We took her to the pediatrician's office, but they sent us to the ER because of the location of the cut. We spent an hour waiting to be seen by the doctor. They put Emmy on a bed out in the hallway. She was very brave. Luckily for us, it was not a deep cut. The doctor was able to clean it up and put the skin glue on, and Emmy walked away good as new. He doesn't think she will even have a scar. We left Alison at my mom's house which helped a lot because there was a lot of waiting. We hope that we never have to make another trip there with Emmy.

7 More Days!

We are going to have the baby on September 1st. I will be exactly 38 weeks; I have to be induced a couple of weeks early because of a heart condition I have when I'm pregnant, and I've got gestational diabetes. Baby and I are doing well, but I'm anxious for her to get here. I have been a bit more nervous this pregnancy, and last week I had a non-reactive non-stress test. Everything looked great today, and I'll have a contraction tolerance test done on Thursday to make sure all is well until baby comes next Tuesday. Hopefully our next post will be pictures of a healthy little girl!

Summer Dance Recital

Emmy had her summer dance recital on Thursday, August 20th. She did a great job with her ballet and tap. Emmy wanted me to video her dance numbers for Grandma and Papa. Enjoy!

My 2 girls...

are wonderful. They have been so good to me throughout this entire pregnancy. Emmy understands when I need to lay down during Alison's nap; she happily colors or plays quietly. Alison sometimes gets a little frustrated these days because my lap is just not as comfortable or easy to stay on as it used to be, and she can't see me when she holds onto my legs under my huge belly crying for me to pick her up. I think she senses a big change coming in our family, but she doesn't understand it completely. Here are some fun pictures of my sweethearts from the last couple of months. As Aaron would ask, "Annika are you nesting?" I'm just trying to get caught up on all of the little things in our lives before baby #3 arrives in the next week or so. I hope to find out when I'll be induced on Monday.

The girls are wearing Aaron's race number from the Stansbury Triathlon back in May. We noticed then that it's actually Emmy's birthday - Dec. 29th.

The girls love to pile books up on the couch and "read". Sometime Emmy will make up the stories for Alison.

Alison loves shoes! She is always trying to put on our shoes. She has figured out that Emmy's shoes are the easiest to get on and fit the best.
Emmy earned this lovely fake nails that we found on clearance. She thought they were a lot of fun; however, they only stayed on her fingers for minutes. I think one might have lasted 30 minutes. We keep finding them in odd places around the house and car. Emmy is always excited when she finds one of her lost nails.

Tea party
Silly faces!
Messy face also!
Emmy colored these pictures one afternoon. She wanted them to be taped together to make a big picture. She would draw lines around on the paper and then color what she saw in the lines. It was really cool was she came up with.
Emmy loves to do my hair. This usually means brushing my hair and then putting a lot of bows in. I thought this particular hairdo was great. She said to me, "Mommy, you look so pretty. You look like an angel."
The girls were holding each other's blankets and running around the house attached by the blankets. They were giggling out of control. I love that they are starting to play more together.
We made floats for the girls for the first time a few weeks ago. They were a huge hit.
Alison was covered in Root Beer by the time she finished her float.

Hunting for Marshmallows

Alison is a peculiar eater. She likes to take her food off her plate or out of the bowl and place it on the table before she eats it. In this instance, the marshmallows from Lucky Charms are all being removed from the bowl so that they can be devoured leaving the brown, boring ones behind. Watching Alison eat always makes me laugh and wish that I could see into her thoughts and know why she is doing what she's doing.

We Love Grandma & Papa

Grandma & Papa Lovell came home from their mission in Orsono, Chile for 4 weeks. Papa needed to have surgery on his neck. It was so wonderful to see them again. We said good-bye for another 2 more years on August 14th. I just love these pictures of the girls with their grandparents. We are so grateful for their example of service and sacrifice.

Surprise Shower

My sisters and mother threw me a surprise baby shower on Friday, August 14th. It was a great surprise and a lot of fun to be together to visit and laugh. Aaron and my brother were enlisted to take all of the kids to the park; I'm sure people laughed as they saw these two guys walking 6 kids around the neighborhood on toddler bikes and in wagons. Thanks again for the great surprise!

My sister gave me some binkies that Susanna didn't like, and Alison grabbed on to one of them and refused to let it go. She still loves the binkie even if it's not the kind she normally has.

It was so awesome to have all of my sisters together for the weekend!

Swim Time

Last Thursday, August 13th, we went swimming with our cousins. The pool wasn't very crowded; we had a great time hanging out in the cool water.

Alison had a great time getting water from the pool and pouring it on my feet.

Emmy got really cold; her lips started turning blue. She was ready to head home and get warmed up.

All of the cousins and aunties on my side of the family got together this past weekend. It was great to hang out and play. Here are some fun pictures of the great times we had with cousins.

One evening after all of the kids were in bed, we built a fire in my parent's backyard for smores. We had a wonderful time chatting and laughing.
