Emmy's 4th Birthday

I can't believe Emmy turned 4 today. We had a really fun pajama party to celebrate her birthday. The girls played pillow musical chairs, had a pillow fight, and played Candyland. Emmy wanted to have a My Little Pony birthday cake. So I made a pink cake, and she picked out her favorite ponies to decorate with. Alison was right in the middle of everything. She loved the cake, and she squeezed right up front to watch Emmy open her gifts. The girls were really cute; I think they had a good time.

Pajama Party!

Everybody tickle the birthday girl!
Emmy's pony cake and party favors. I made the girls snowman leg warmers.
Make a wish.
Yummy cake!
The girls were really quiet while they ate their cake. It must have been good.

Grandma & Grandpa got Emmy a wooden birthday cake. Sweet, we can play birthday party everyday!
Thanks Aunt Karen for the cute hat.

Cousin Sara's Blessing

Yesterday we got to meet our new niece Sara. Karen, Cameron, and Sara came to Utah for the Christmas holidays from Nebraska. Karen and Sara will be back in January for the long weekend. We are excited to spend the weekend in Heber with all of the cousins. 5 baby girls under that age of 4. It is going to be a blast!

Sara Elizabeth was blessed by her father Cameron. It was really special, and we are so glad that were were able to be there. She looked beautiful in her blessing dress; it is the same dress Karen and Darin wore when they were blessed as babies.

Christmas Pajamas

It is always fun trying to get little kids to sit still for a picture. Here is our attempt to get Alison to sit still for a picture with Emmy.

The choke hold by an older sibling works, but it doesn't look so good.

We tried the corner of the couch. Alison jumped forward and dove off the couch. Luckily I caught her before she hit the floor.
Alison crawled away and left Emmy hanging.
We finally got a good one!

Fun Pictures

Emmy's last preschool class before Christmas vacation was a PJ party.
Since Emmy's birthday is December 29th, they celebrated Emmy's birthday at preschool before the Christmas vacation. She wanted to take a treat to share with her class. She choose candy bracelets. I'm sure the little boys loved those.
I gave Alison a spoon to lick with a little bit of cookie dough. She loved it!
Alison likes to sit in the most inconvient places. She is just like a cat. If you are reading something, she crawls over and parks it right on top of your newspaper or magazine.
Here's Alison in her Christmas dress for church yesterday.

This is Emmy 3 years ago for her first Christmas (2005). I can't belive how much they look alike.

Visiting Great Grandparents

Saturday, December 20th, we headed to Lehi, Utah to visit Aaron's grandparents. We had a nice visit. Emmy decided she was shy and wouldn't talk to Great Grandma or Grandpa. I told her she could have a cookie if she asked Great Grandpa for the cookie herself. Finally, right before we had to leave she whispered in Grandpa's ear. He laughed and got cookies for everyone. She gave great hugs and kisses even if she was being a bit shy.

Story time with Santa

Today, Santa was at Story time at the library. He read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas to the kids. Emmy did not move a muscle the entire time he was reading. Santa waved at Alison, and I tried to get her to wave back. She just turned away and tried to climb back onto my lap. She wasn't really into this big guy in the red suit and white beard.

After the story, Santa let the kids sit on his lap; he asked them what they wanted him to bring for Christmas. Emmy replied, "I want play food just like my favorite cousin Katie." He said, "Oh, okay. I'll see what I can do about that." I put Alison on Santa's lap with Emmy; she took one look at him and tried to get away. However, she really enjoyed the candy cane the librarians were passing out.

Daddy's Joke

The other night Emmy said this to me as I was making dinner. Enjoy!

I got a joke that Daddy did.
I pulled his finger and he tooted.
That's magic!

Later that evening, Emmy asked Alison to pull her finger.
Emmy said, "No toots. I guess I don't have magic."

Climbing Stairs

Snowman

Christmas Tree

We put up the tree Thanksgiving Day; I just couldn't wait. I love the lights. We waited to put the ornaments on until December 1st. Emmy had a great time looking at all of the ornaments and putting them on the tree. Alison just crawled all over Aaron and the ornaments. Her favorite ornament is a little jingle bell with a snowman on it. She likes to crawl around the house with it in her hand. Jingle all the way! Right.

Bennett & Emmy

Cousin Bennett went back to Iowa on Tuesday; Emmy sure is missing her playmate. They had a great time, and I loved listening to and joining in on their conversations. Here is my favorite.

E: I live in Tooele. My teacher lives in Tooele.
A: Where do you live Bennett?
B: I live in the sky.
A: Really!
B: I go on plane in sky to Grandma house.
E: You don't live in the sky. Heavenly Father lives in the sky.
B: I go pray in trees and see Heavenly Father.

Family Pictures

We spent November 28, Black Friday, taking family pictures. We were very pleased with how well all of the pictures turned out. The kids did great. We have not taken my immediate family picture for over 10 years. My parents had not had a picture taken of them for almost 20 years. We have all changed a bit. It is nice to finally update some family pictures.

This picture shows what it was like to try and get 5 kids under the age of 4 to look at the camera and smile. We are lucky we got a good shot.

Rivals Weekend

November 22 was a big football day for our family. BYU played their rivals Utah, and they really didn't show up. It was a sad game. We did have super game treats. Lucky for us the Sooners played a much better game later that evening. It helped Aaron's mood improve that the Sooners crushed Texas Tech.
