TriHive Magazine

Aaron's most recent freelance project is as the new Creative Director and Copy Editor of TriHive Magazine. He does all of the layout design and copy editing for the magazine. The first issue he designed came out in April. He's now working on the summer issue that is due out in the next couple of weeks. The greatest thing about this magazine is that it's free! Anyone can go to the TriHive website at http://www.trihive.com/ and click on the link for a free subscription. The magazine has great articles about athletic training, healthy eating, athlete bios, and gear reviews. TriHive focuses on running, biking, and swimming; the sports involved in triathlons.

This has been a very exciting project for Aaron, and we would love for everyone to sign up for a FREE subscription. Tell your friends and family; the more subscriptions the better!

This is the cover of the spring issue of TriHive that Aaron designed.

9th and 49th

Saturday, May 23rd, Aaron completed his first triathlon for the 2009 season. Lucky for us girls, the triathlon was only 10 miles away in Stansbury Park and less than a mile from my mom's house. It was the first time they did this large of a triathlon in Stansbury Park. Aaron did well; he finished 9th in his age division and 49th overall in the sprint distance. The girls and I were able to watch Aaron compete in the swim, finish the bike, and start on the run. We didn't see him finish the entire race because there was no easy way for us to get to the finish line. Alison fell asleep in the car, so I decided to just head back to my parents house in Stansbury Park and feed the girls lunch. Hopefully next year, they will make the race more spectator friendly!

Aaron coming in from the 13 mile bike ride. One of the athletes got hit by a car on the bike route, and Aaron lost a few minutes on the ride because he stopped to make sure everything was okay. The guy was pretty upset at the lady who hit him, understandably. Another athlete had arrived first and was tending to the fallen rider who looked to have a badly broken finger, and he complained of hip pain. Aaron helped keep the lady who had caused the accident away from the victim. She was really sorry, but Aaron thought it best if she hung back a little and just let the guy vent. He should recover just fine. Hopefully in time for the other races he undoubtedly had planned this season.

Fishy Fun

Friday, May 22nd, the girls and I went to The Living Planet aquarium in Salt Lake City. We went with a few cousins Audrey, Katie, and Carly. The girls loved the fish and exploring the coral reef exhibit. They ran all over yelling for each other to come and look at this and that. We went to a park for lunch after the aquarium. It was a fun day with our cousins.

Preschool Celebration Videos

These are some great videos of Emmy and her preschool friends singing. You can tell that Emmy just loves music and movement. She really got into the songs and doing the actions. Enjoy!

Preschool Celebration

This morning we attended Emmy's preschool celebration with Giggles n' Wiggles Preschool. Emmy had a wonderful year at preschool with her teacher Ms. Natalie. I was always amazed at the new things Emmy learned.

Party Pictures

I had a great 30th birthday party at my parents house on Saturday afternoon, May 16th. My mom made me this great cake. It's a tribute to my teenage years and the dancing flowers from the early 90's. Remember those? Enjoy the pictures!

30 Today

Well, I'm 30 years old today. I was worried all year that this might be a big birthday for me, but it really wasn't. I don't feel any different, and I didn't really worry about the day as it got closer. Aaron always says that it's just another day and age is a state of mind. I think it really helped that I got to spend all of last week in Tahoe with my sweetie. We had such a great time relaxing and exploring the sights. I came back refreshed and ready to face a long summer pregnant.

We took the girls to the park today for a picnic lunch. I got to take a nice nap this afternoon. Then, we went to a new diner near town for dinner with my parents and brother. It was a nice day with family. We are going to have a little party tomorrow night after my sister and niece get into town from Arizona.

When it's all said and done, life keeps moving forward. I'm a year older, and I feel really lucky to have so many wonderful blessings. I can't complain; it's great to be thirty!

Tahoe - Days 5 &6 - May 8-9th

Our last couple of days at Tahoe were just beautiful. Friday morning, I went down to the gym and jogged on the treadmill while Aaron worked on the TriHive Magazine. After lunch, we decided to do some shopping. It was a lot of fun to visit all of the little tourist shops around the area. They were all within walking distance of our hotel. We spent the week in the Timber Lodge. It was a very comfortable place to stay; we had our own little one bedroom apartment that they call "villas". It was like we were back in Union Square in Provo when we were first married, but this place was a lot nicer.

Aaron is standing in front of the Timber Lodge. We got to enjoy Valet parking for the week.

I'm standing on the other side of the lodge and to the right is the ski lift for Heavenly. It was closed until the end of the month. It would have been fun to ride up the gondolas and see the views.

Here's my favorite bear. My bear is much cuter.
On Saturday afternoon, we headed back up to Emerald Bay to hike Eagle Falls. It was a beautiful day again. Her you can see the little island in Emerald Bay. The small structure on the top is called the Tea House. We got to see the island up close from the Tahoe Queen. It is a huge chunk of rock with trees growing out of the small crevices. It's really cool.
I sat down near the waterfall to enjoy the views. Aaron can't hold still for more than two seconds. He found a way to hike down the huge rocks to get a closer look at the waterfall.
Aaron took this picture looking up at the waterfall.
I love this tree. It's growing out of the rock next to the waterfall. It's just amazing how the trees find a way to grow even though it's not the greatest or easiest conditions.
Here you can see Lake Tahoe. This waterfall is one of the main feeds into the lake.

Here I am huffing my way up the steep trail to the top of Eagle Falls. It was a cool hike.

Before we could leave Lake Tahoe, Aaron had to get in the water! He brought all of his gear for a dip in the freezing water. He enjoyed every minute swimming in the lake. He found all kinds of cool rocks and other great treasures that we brought home with us. My boy loves to play in any kind of water
